Allcourt Tennis Academy
Graduation Guidelines

The following guidelines state the minimum requirements, or bench-mark, to enter into that particular level.

Tiny Tier
This is the beginner level for ages 3 to 6 years old.  The only
requirement to enter into this level is to be between the ages of 3 and 6.


The Future Group
This is the beginner level for ages 7 and up.  6-year olds may be admitted into this group at the sole discretion of the Director.


The Challengers Group
To enter into The Challengers Group a Tiny Tier or Futures Group
student must be at least 7 years of age (very athletic 6 year olds
may be admitted on an individual basis).  Also, all players must be
able to: 
                
1.  Keep score
2.  Understand basic positioning in singles and doubles.
2.  Maintain a rally of 10 with groundstrokes from the baseline
3.  Maintain a rally of 10 volleys with a hitting partner at the baseline.
4.  Hit 10 serves in a row in the correct box from the baseline.  Th eplayer must also begin to serve with a continental grip.


The Qualifiers Group
To enter The Qualifiers Group, all players must be able to:

1.  Hit topspin serves (w/ a continental grip) 50% of the time.
2.  Hit volleys (w/ a continental grip) with directional intent
3.  Rally 25 groundstrokes in a row from the baseline with good topspin (may be with an instructor).
4.  Hit approach shots with directional intent and with proper footwork.
5.  Know and understand the yo-yo movement (one up/one back) for doubles.
6.  Know first 3 basic strategies to singles:  keep it in play, rally cross court, and rally crosscourt then hit the approach shot down the line and follow it to the net to volley.
7.  Have competed in a minimum of three (3) USTA-sanctioned tournament events.
                        

The Grand Slam Group
To enter into The Grand Slam Group, all students must have a state and sectional ranking and be able to:
1.  Hit flat (50%), slice (80%), and topspin (80%) serves.
2.  Hit slice and chip approach shots
3.  Rally 50 crosscourt/down the lines inside the singles court and pass the service line
4.  Must be able to take groundstrokes on the rise.
5.  Must be able to hit swinging/non-swinging volley approach shots to approach off of your opponent's high returns.
6.  Hit topspin and backspin lobs.
7.  Hit overheads 90%.
8.  Maintain a rally 20 lobs to overheads.
9.  Return of serve with proper footwork and split-step.


The High School Group
To enter into the High School drill group, all students must:
1.  Be currently enrolled in 9th grade or higher
2.  Have complete knowledge of scoring and rules of the game.
